Simon Thompson started his career as a headhunter in 1988 after spending five years as a commodity broker in London and Amsterdam. He worked as an independent headhunter from 1988-1992 in the fields of Insurance and Proprietary Trading.
In 1992 he joined Simpson Crowden Consultants, a leading energy and financial services executive search consultancy, as a Senior Consultant. He later took charge of their City search practice.
In the early nineties, Simon moved into Asset Management Recruitment and built one of the early franchises in the Private Client Industry, a sector largely overlooked at the time. He founded Thompson de la Mare Ltd as a specialist headhunter to the Private Client Industry in 1998.
Over the last 25 years he has provided executive search services to many of the leading names in the wealth industry. He has also helped smaller investment houses grow more rapidly through the hiring of multiple teams and company acquisitions.
